| As a result of an agreement signed by the Municipal Government of Baradero Buenos Aires Province, Argentina and the INIDEP, the sanitary quality of the Baradero River waters was studied and fish safety assessed. Results of five field surveys carried out between 1993 and 1997 are studied. Organochlorine and organophosphorate pesticide residues, as well as traces of heavy metals were analyzed in 49 fish specimens and aerobic heterotrophic bacteria (AHB), total coliform bacteria (TC) and fecal coliform bacteria (FC) were counted out in 7 sampling stations placed on the coast and the riverbed. | The thesis work is part of the very current issue on mass mortality outbreaks affecting Pacific oyster, C. gigas, spat and juveniles and questions about the involvement of pesticides in this phenomenon. The first part of this thesis was devoted to study the effects of pesticides on hemocyte parameters in the Pacific oyster (in vitro and in vivo). The immunomodulator effect of selected pesticides (alone or in mixture) has been explored principally through flow cytometry. The second part concerned the study of the effects of a pesticides mixture on OsHV-1 itself. No direct effects have been reported on the viral particles in presence of the pollutants. | L’étude ECUME était une opération destinée à tester localement dans les eaux côtières du littoral normand, des outils développés nationalement lors de nombreux travaux, et pressentis pour être utilisés lors des prochaines campagnes d’évaluation de la qualité chimique des masses d’eau littorales pour la DCE. Ceci afin de déterminer la méthode la plus adaptée et opérationnelle de les déployer, et comparer leurs résultats entre eux et par rapport aux connaissances actuelles des niveaux de contamination. | Se evaluaron seis formulaciones comerciales de insecticidas para el control de los diferentes estados biológicos de Diaphorina citri (Kuwayama) en limón persa en condiciones de invernadero y en laboratorio. | The objective of this study was to analyse residues of fungicides and insecticides in rice grains that were subjected to different forms of processing. Field work was conducted during three crop seasons, and fungicides and insecticides were applied at different crop growth stages on the aerial portion of the rice plants. | ABSTRACTThe present study aimed to investigate the histological alterations in common carp gills caused by a fosetyl-Al and fenamidone based fungicide tested in laboratory conditions at 30, 38 and 50 mg/L concentration. In general, all the tested concentrations activated compensatory-adaptive mechanisms, which caused pathological changes in the fish gills. Results showed different histological alterations in the gill structure, which included lamellar lifting, edema, proliferation of the glandular cells and epithelium, covering the gill filament, fusion and degenerative alterations. | ABSTRACT Agricultural workers involved in the harvest of tobacco crops are regularly exposed to large quantities of pesticides. In order to determine how this exposure to pesticides induces genetic alterations in these workers, blood samples were obtained from 77 exposed individuals, as well as from 60 unexposed subjects. DNA damage was analyzed by the Comet assay and by the micronucleus (MN) test.
